Mums-to-be ‘dislike making fuss’

in Health

As part of a study into how women viewed giving birth, researchers looked at how mothers-to-be behaved. They found women constantly apologise for crying out in pain, or behaving “inappropriately” when they are giving birth.

The challenge is that we’ve made the birthing process more public, by bringing people to a hospital rather than their home, and many remember being told to “Be quiet! This is a hospital!” at some point in their lives. We need to be given permission to allow the energy and pain of a situation to flow, rather than having to apologize for feeling. –Rick [via BBC: Health]
